“Every mind deserves room to flourish. When we invest in neurodiverse families, we strengthen the heartbeat of our community.”

CAPPA Inc., operating as The Pouring Project, exists to pour into communities through education, wellness, and empowerment.

We believe every child and every family—especially those navigating disability, health disparities, and economic challenges—deserve equitable access to knowledge, support, and opportunity. Our work is rooted in the belief that when families are equipped with information and tools, they can advocate confidently, pursue healthier futures, and break cycles of inequity.

To close health, education, and economic gaps by empowering families with the knowledge, resources, and pathways they need to navigate childhood, wellness, and development—from early years through adulthood.

Our Mission

A world where all families, especially Black, Brown, and underserved communities, have access to the education, support, and equitable opportunities required to thrive across every stage of life.

Our Vision

Why This Work Matters

Across the Carolinas and beyond, families face significant barriers:

  • Delayed diagnosis and limited developmental screenings

  • Lack of access to culturally responsive resources

  • Health disparities affecting chronic conditions, mental health, and family well-being

  • Workforce shortages in behavioral and developmental care

  • Financial and systemic hurdles that prevent families from receiving needed services

The Pouring Project exists to close these gaps by educating families, building workforce pipelines, and supporting community well-being—one household at a time.

What We Do

Our work focuses on three core pillars designed to strengthen both families and the broader community.

Workforce Development & Career Pathways

We prepare the next generation of behavioral health, social work, and therapy professionals through:

  • Internships and externships (RBT, BHT, OT, SLP, LCSW, mental health)

  • Hands-on training within The Lemonade Center™

  • Workforce pipelines for high school, college, and career transition students

  • Community-based education for aspiring providers

By developing future talent, we help address the workforce shortage while creating job opportunities within underserved communities.

Family Education & Whole-Body Wellness

Families deserve clear, accessible information to make informed health decisions. Our programs offer:

  • Health equity workshops

  • Wellness education (blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, preventative screenings, mental health)

  • Developmental and behavioral resources

  • Navigation support for Medicaid, EPSDT, and early intervention

  • Parent and caregiver empowerment groups

We focus on whole-family health—not just autism—ensuring families understand and can advocate across all aspects of wellness.

Community Equity & Outreach Initiatives

We partner with schools, churches, providers, and community organizations to:

  • Host health talks, screenings, and education events

  • Provide culturally responsive health and wellness materials

  • Train community partners on navigating developmental and behavioral health systems

  • Sponsor programming that removes barriers for underserved families

Our aim is to bring accessible, trusted education into the spaces where families already gather.

Our Commitment to Equity

We are dedicated to championing inclusion and dismantling disparities that impact Black, Brown, neurodivergent, and low-income families. Everything we do is grounded in cultural humility, accessibility, and a deep understanding of the communities we serve.
